Massachusetts Attorney General’s Office Forum on Forest Carbon Storage

GDAE Co-Director Dr. William Moomaw joined two distinguished colleagues, Richard A. Birdsey of the Woodwell Climate Research Center and John Sterman of the MIT Sloan School of Management at a forum sponsored by the Massachusetts Attorney General’s Office to discuss The Critical Role of Forests in Protecting Climate and Public Health. In addition to examining the crucial role of forests in carbon storage, the panelists discuss the potential of energy efficiency and renewables, concluding that an aggressive policy combining efficiency and renewables with forest protection and expansion can be effective in reducing the impacts of climate change. Two New Policy Briefs on Soils and Climate

Policies to promote healthy soils are central both for climate policy and agricultural sustainability. Following two conferences on the topic, GDAE researchers present two policy briefs, one by Sam Polzin on Soil Carbon, Water Management, and Natural Infrastructure and one by Benjamin Johnson on Land Value and Soil Quality.They advocate:
- Regionally coordinated state-level agricultural policy incentives to enhance both soil health and water management in the Northeastern United States by harnessing the potential for agriculture to build natural infrastructure.
- Reforming current systems of land valuation and taxation to reflect soil quality and long-term productive potential, creating landowner incentives for proper stewardship.

Moomaw Appeals to the EU Parliament for Climate-Focused Forest Management
May 22, 2020
GDAE Co-director William Moomaw has drafted a letter to the European Parliament emphasizing forest management as an effective tool to reduce atmospheric carbon. Forests remove more carbon from the atmosphere than any other planetary system, but this storage potential is threatened by human activities. Long-term carbon storage in forests is critically important in order to achieve both EU and global climate targets.
The letter has been signed by 370 scientists from 34 countries who have a range of expertise spanning multiple dimensions of climate, forests, energy, carbon cycle accounting and biodiversity. Signers include some of the senior scientists who warned about the consequences of climate change during the 1970s and 80s, leading scientists of today, and younger scientists who are studying to be able to offer their talents to nature’s climate solutions.

World Scientists’ Warning of a Climate Emergency
November 5, 2019
William Moomaw co-authored a paper published in the journal BioScience. In the paper, Moomaw and his co-authors declared a climate emergency that without deep and lasting shifts in human activities will result in “untold human suffering”. The authors present a suite of graphical vital signs of climate change over the last 40 years for human activities that can affect GHG emissions and change the climate, as well as actual climatic impacts. The paper is endorsed by 11,258 scientists from 153 countries.

How Much Can I Make?
There are many different ways on how to make money with FusionCash. We’re going to do our best to break down each section so that you can determine which tasks are worth your time.
Paid To Call
There aren’t usually many offers under the Paid To Call section, but the payout is usually very generous. When you sign-up, you should be given an offer to talk to someone briefly about auto insurance for $2.00 dollars. Usually these tasks don’t take long to complete and only require you to be on the line for a minimum of 3 minutes. For those of you who don’t want to talk to sales reps, ignore these offers.
Listening to the Radio
Listening to the radio has an extremely low payout rate, but there’s nothing as passive when earning money on FusionCash. You get paid $.03 cents every 30 minutes and will be requested to enter a captcha code after every half hour to continue listening. Earn $.15 cents in one day and earn a bonus $.01 cent. I only recommend this for those who enjoy listening to the radio since the payout is so low.
Videos
Free 30 Dollar Steam Card
Another easy way to make money is by watching videos, yet once again the payout system isn’t the best. You can earn 1-2 cents per video and each one lasts an average of a few minutes. In terms of earning cash, this is one of the worst payout rates on the site.
Paid To Click
Under the Paid To Click tab, you are paid to click on advertiser banners and links. The great part about this section is that you can use the sidebar on the left to choose the category of ads you wish to view. Here you have to view 4 different category pages and then click on an ad.
You must view content pages for a total of 2 1/2 minutes to receive your credit of 15 cents. There’s even a timer on the page to keep track of your time. This section is actually pretty easy, but can only be completed once a day.
Tasks
This portion of the page is sponsored by Crowdflower. Crowdflower is an online task site where you can hire out people to complete tasks at an extremely low cost. Here you’re only going to get 1 – 50 cents per tasks and they usually take up a decent amount of time. I do not recommend this section at all.
Mobile/Tablet
This is by far my favorite section. Log on to the FusionCash page using your browser from your tablet or mobile device. Download the apps listed and earn some cash. Usually you can earn anywhere from $.50 cents to $2.00 dollars just for installing an app to your phone.
Make sure to open the app and leave it installed for a few hours in order to receive credit. This section is highly recommended. Check back often as new apps are offered daily.
Refer A Friend
This one is by far the easiest and the funnest. You earn $1.00 when your referral confirms their email, $2.00 when they complete an offer that’s Pay-To-Sign-Up, and $5 dollars each time they cash out. These referral bonuses are available for life! Other Notes

So far what we have is roughly $6 dollars from downloading apps in about 5 minutes. The apps that are displayed for each person depend on the device that you use as well as the user and location. Android tends to have more options.
So far we’ve earned a bonus of $5 dollars for signing-up and just $6 dollars for downloading apps. How do we get more? We get one more device.
For me personally, I use an iPhone and an iPad. FusionCash has no restrictions on how many times the apps can be downloaded on how many devices. We do this again and we earn another $6 dollars in about 5 minutes.
